Smyrna Mayor to Deliver State of the City Address at Smyrna Area Council, July 28 |
|
Join the Cobb Chamber for the next Smyrna Area Council on Wednesday, July 28 at 5:30 p.m. where Mayor Derek Norton will share updates on city-wide developments, a 2020 year-in-review, and plans for the future in his inaugural State of the City address. After only a few months in office, Mayor Norton faced difficult decisions and immeasurable challenges as the COVID-19 pandemic struck the City of Smyrna. He led residents through the hard times by being open and communicative about the City's approach and plan to keep businesses and community safe. Prior to becoming Mayor, Derek was elected to the Smyrna City Council in 2015 and represented Ward 1 for four years. He has served on several local boards and committees in the City including the Board of Directors for Keep Smyrna Beautiful and the Smyrna Business Association, the Executive Committee for the Smyrna Vision initiative, and served three terms as president of the Afton Downs Homeowners Association. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will be served. This is a free event on behalf of the City of Smyrna and the Cobb Chamber. However, registration is required to reserve your seat at the program. Walk up registration and admission will not be permitted. Register by July 26 at noon at cobbchamber.org/events to confirm you are attending in person. To attend virtually, a link will be posted on the Chamber’s Facebook page.
