Cobb County’s House Congressional Leaders to Speak at February Marquee Monday

The Cobb Chamber welcomes Cobb’s House Congressional leaders to the Marquee Monday stage on Feb. 8 at the Coca-Cola Roxy.

Congressman Barry Loudermilk, Congresswoman Lucy McBath and Congressman David Scott will share their insights on the new administration in Washington and what's ahead regarding legislative priorities. Due to D.C. meeting schedules, the event’s speakers will be presenting in person and virtually.

Congressman Barry Loudermilk was elected to the United States Congress in 2014 and represents northwest Georgia’s 11th Congressional District. He serves on the U.S. House Financial Services Committee, is the Ranking Member of the committee’s Task Force on Artificial Intelligence, serves on the Committee on House Administration, and the Joint Committee on the Library. Loudermilk also serves as a member of the Republican Study Committee (RSC), a conservative caucus of House Republicans. Before being elected to Congress in 2014, Barry Loudermilk was a small business owner for over 20 years and served in the Georgia State legislature for nine years.

Congresswoman Lucy McBath was elected in November 2018 to Georgia’s 6th Congressional District, which represents east Cobb, northern Fulton County, and northern DeKalb County. In Congress, she serves on the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force and the Committee on Judiciary with subcommittees on Crimes, Terrorism & Homeland Security as well as Antitrust, Commercial, and Administrative Law. She also serves on the Committee on Education and Labor with subcommittees on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions as well as Workforce Protections. Prior to Congress, she ran a non-profit, was a Delta Airlines flight attendant for 30 years, and authored a book.

Congressman David Scott is currently in his 10th term representing Georgia's 13th Congressional District, which includes six metro Atlanta counties including part of Cobb County. In early December 2020, Congressman David Scott (GA-13) was approved by the Democratic Caucus to serve as the first African-American Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee, which oversees legislation relating to the U.S. agriculture industry, forestry, nutrition, and rural development. He also serves on the Financial Services Committee and the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. Before being elected to Congress in 2002, he was a small business owner, Georgia State Representative (1975-1982), and Georgia State Senator (1983-2002).
