From rehab tech to medical assistant - Shannell's journey highlights the opportunities for learning and growth here at Resurgens! Shannell joined Resurgens in 2019 as a rehabilitation tech and dedicated 2.5 years working with patients in their rehabilitation journeys. Then, she moved into the medical admin space as a Patient Services Specialist. Working at the desk, she became interested in the clinical side of orthopedics and after earning her certification, she is now a medical assistant at our Austell location. Her advice to potential applicants? Go for it! “It’s a great place to work, great environment and great co-workers.” She loves how being a medical assistant allows her to learn more everyday. Outside of work, Shannell loves drawing, writing, or reading. She loves strolling through her local farmers markets and enjoys spending time with her husband and dogs. We are currently hiring Medical Assistants with orthopedic experience in Austell. Come work with Shannell! #MedicalAssistant #NowHiring #Resurgens #Austell

If you’re wondering what an occupational therapist does, we went straight to the source and asked our OT’s at Resurgens. Short answer: They don’t help people find an “occupation” as their job title may suggest. “Occupational Therapists are skilled healthcare professionals who rehabilitate patients back into their daily life activities, challenges, and work,” says Paula Rothfeld, OT, CHT. “We differ slightly from Physical Therapists, as we look at patients more functionally and they more bio-mechanically. But we can say we do overlap, especially in the area of Orthopedics.” Occupational therapists complete extensive training: • 6 years of schooling to earn bachelors and masters degrees. • Certified Hand Therapists (CHTs) complete an additional 3 years of training, 4,000 hours of treating hand conditions, and must pass an additional boards exam. “In general, all Occupational Therapists have one major goal, and that is to improve our patients’ quality of life and enable them to enter back into the work force, or their general daily activities with the best therapy we can provide,” she emphasizes. “We work to promote physical, social, and environmental well-being for all our patients in all areas of practice.” #OTMonth #OccupationalTherapy #Resurgens

Meet Rebecca, a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) at Resurgens Orthopaedics! Originally from Ohio, she landed in Georgia in September 2022 and swiftly became an integral part of our Physical Therapy team. Despite graduating with a marketing degree from The University of Cincinnati, Rebecca discovered her true passion was helping others in health and wellness. Intrigued by a PTA program, she seamlessly transitioned into her passion for helping others. When she interviewed at Resurgens, Rebecca felt an instant connection with the team. She thrives in our collaborative environment and cherishes the patient-centered focus. Recently certified in ACL injury prevention, she's committed to helping her patients avoid these injuries, especially women who are at higher risk. In her free time, you'll spot Rebecca either training for her next race or hitting the gym. Endurance running is her forte, often conquering courses that are over 12 hours, and she recently earned 3rd place in her age group! #EmployeeSpotlight #physicaltherapyassistant #Resurgens
