Join Cobb Young Professionals (CYP) for a round of signature events and socials as they kick off their 2019 season.
The professional development group has a productive year planned—upcoming events include a date night at the Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art, a NCAA Tournament March Madness social, leadership luncheons and volunteer opportunities throughout the year, the Next Generation Mentoring Program and much more.
The next three events on the Cobb Young Professionals calendar are:
Volunteer Opportunity | Friday, Feb. 15 | McCleskey Middle School | 8:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.
CYP will partner with the Communities In Schools Marietta/Cobb County Reality U Program to teach middle and high school students about fiscal well-being and academic achievement.
The one-day financial literacy and life skills event is designed to help students understand some of the "realities" involved in preparing for adulthood. Students are provided an adult scenario complete with family status, occupation and net monthly income—and will visit a variety of booths to "purchase" housing, transportation, child-care, food, utilities, etc.
Reality U helps students make a direct connection between academic success and financial stability.
The volunteer event will be held at McCleskey Middle School (4080 Maybreeze Rd., Marietta, GA 30060). Registration is open until Tuesday, February 12.
Date Night at the Museum | Friday, Mar. 1 | Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art | 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Grab your S.O. (or a friend!) and join CYP for a special craft beer night at the museum. The date night will be held at the Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art and will include a DJ, a collective art project, appetizers and a wide variety of craft beers. Attendees will participate in a group art project that will be sent home with the winner of a drawing.
While this is marketed as a date night, it is not required to bring someone. If you would like to come alone or bring a friend, CYP looks forward to seeing you there.
Registration and refunds are open until Tuesday, February 26. Admission is $15 per person, and includes appetizers and craft beer.
March Madness Social | Thursday, Mar. 21 | Dave & Buster’s | 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Join CYP during the NCAA Tournament for a March Madness Social. This event is free to Cobb Chamber members and includes an appetizer buffet, drinks, networking and door prizes. The social will be held in a private room and bar with a big screen featuring the NCAA games. CYP will provide game vouchers and also host a trivia game with prizes for the winning team.
CYP will be accepting donations for the student food pantry at Marietta High School. Bring at least five donation items (nutritious, quick meals for families with limited appliance/kitchen resources) to receive one free drink ticket!
Online registration is open until Tuesday, Mar. 19. At-door registration is $10 for Chamber members and $20 for non-members.
