Cobb Chamber Diversity and Inclusion Council Names 2018 Award Winners

The Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) Council, Cobb Chamber’s leadership group that promotes economic empowerment, diversity and inclusion for all Cobb County residents, named the 2018 winners of its first Diversity and Inclusion awards at the D&I holiday reception hosted by JE Dunn Construction on Dec. 17: Elaine Armster of Linkscape360 and Neera Bahl of One Path Legal. The 2018 recipients were selected for their contributions to and support of the Diversity and Inclusion Council.

“I can’t thank Neera and Elaine enough for all of their hard work on behalf of the Cobb Chamber’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee,” said Lee Johnson, D&I Council co-chair. “They have such a positive outlook that is reflective in all that they do. Their engagement and input has allowed the committee to make substantial progress this year.”

Elaine Armster, a founding member of the council, was selected for the 2018 award for her contributions to the council’s strategic plan, as well as her involvement with the government relations and membership committees. Linkscape360, with Armster as chief sustainability officer and managing partner, develops innovative program management systems and guides the strategic planning process for non-profits, grass-root initiatives and local governments. Armster was selected for the 2018 class of Leadership Cobb and serves on the board for a number of organizations, including the Florida A&M Foundation, the YWCA Academy of Women Leaders and the Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre.

Neera Bahl was selected for the 2018 award for her integral role with the D&I Council, government relations committee and her involvement with Georgia diversity groups and championing of clients mired in the U.S. immigration process. Bahl is a managing partner with One Path Legal, where she specializes in immigration, family and business law. She is the current president of the U.S. Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce Southeast Chapter; volunteers actively with several cultural, community and need-focused organizations; and is committed to benefiting her community and professional society through personal growth and leadership.

The Diversity and Inclusion Council was founded in October of 2016 to lead the Cobb business community by example and to build a vibrant, thriving community where every person has a sense of belonging, is valued and respected, differences are embraced and all energies are focused on supporting economic prosperity for all people. The D&I Council focuses on educating, embracing and engaging its community, working together for a unified Cobb County. The council meets quarterly and currently consists of 32 committee members.

“Our 2018 award recipients have played key roles since the establishment of the Diversity and Inclusion Council and have helped pave the way in our community where this work is important to us,” says Cherelle Cortez, D&I Council co-chair. “The awards demonstrate a shared, self-reinforcing commitment to each other to promote inclusion, equality and equity to support economic prosperity for all people. Diversity and inclusion at the Cobb Chamber is to lead by example, and to provide an environment that promotes, in?uences, and facilitates economic empowerment and diversity and inclusion for all. Cobb is open to you!”
