Cobb Chamber names Dana Johnson as Executive Vice President of Economic Development & Executive Director of Select Cobb

Following an extensive search and selection process with a large pool of highly qualified applicants across the state, the Cobb Chamber announced today that Dana Johnson will join its staff as Executive Vice President of Economic Development and Executive Director of Select Cobb, the organization’s economic development strategy.

“Dana is the right person to lead Select Cobb for our next chapter of advancing a thriving economy for our community. He brings a great passion for Cobb and our state as well as extensive economic development experience in working with our many partners to attract, recruit and retain jobs,” said Sharon Mason, President and CEO of the Cobb Chamber. “I look forward to his leadership that will take Select Cobb and our team to the next level.”

Johnson has been in a managerial role with the Community Development Agency at Cobb County Government since 2005. In his role as Director, Johnson led the strategic direction of the county’s economic development arm, including the overhaul of the county’s incentives ordinance and the creation of a business concierge service to assist businesses of all sizes to relocate and expand within Cobb County. Prior to that, he was a senior planner for the City of Marietta.

Johnson resides in Marietta. He received his master’s in city planning with a concentration in economic development at the Georgia Institute of Technology and received his bachelor’s at the University of Rhode Island. Johnson is a certified planner through the American Institute of Certified Planners.

He is involved with several industry associations, including the American Planning Association, the Georgia Economic Development Association, and the Georgia Planning Association, where he served as vice president of programs. Johnson is also a graduate of Leadership Cobb and the Atlanta Regional Commission’s Regional Leadership Institute.

"I am honored to join an organization with a strong record of achievement and I look forward to building on that momentum," said Johnson. "I see tremendous potential for Select Cobb’s efforts to attract and retain businesses to the county, to assist entrepreneurs and grow its international strategy. I am excited to join this talented team and achieve Select Cobb’s goals together.”
