Cobb Chamber Names the 2017 Sam Olens Business Community Service Award Winners

The Cobb Chamber named the 2017 Sam Olens Business Community Service Award winners this morning at the December First Monday Breakfast Event, sponsored by Cobb Community Foundation and MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service. This year, the award program recognized 19 businesses nominated as recipients for their contributions to Cobb’s non-profit organizations.

Since the inception of this prestigious awards program, Georgia Trend magazine has served as its sponsor. Publisher and Editor-in-Chief Ben Young presented each winner with an award of recognition.

Earlier this year, Cobb’s non-profit community was asked to nominate businesses that have enhanced the lives of all Cobb County residents through gifts of time, money and charitable donations. Congratulations to all of our 2017 nominees:

From this distinguished list of nominees, two award winners were named, Elder Law Firm and JE Dunn Construction. Shelly Elder is a servant leader who gives of her time and resources to community non-profit organizations that include Kennesaw Teen Center, Through Our Heart, Kennesaw Life Church, Linus Meals, 10 Women of Hope, Children’s Miracle Network and Special Olympics. With over 500 volunteer hours, the Elder Law Firm’s mission and impact promotes social change and inspire charitable giving in our community.

JE Dunn Construction – the company, foundation and employees – have supported more than 300 philanthropies in the last year. Atlanta’s Executive Vice President Mike Bartlett and his employees give their time and resources to community non-profits like the Atlanta Area Boy Scouts, Kids to Leaders, American Diabetes & Heart Associations, Feed the Homeless, Ron Clark Academy, Chalker Elementary School, and the Orange Duffel Bag Initiative.
